Economic Diplomacy and Bilateral Agreements: Boosting Trade and Investment (Part 2)

Last week, we discussed how economic diplomacy and bilateral agreements are strategic tools for strengthening trade and attracting investment. Now, Bring Consulting delves even deeper into the topic, highlighting the main agreements in force and those that are on the verge of transforming the global economic scenario, connecting Brazil to new opportunities.

Current Bilateral Agreements

Brazil maintains a broad network of bilateral agreements that promote trade and economic cooperation with strategic countries. These agreements cover areas such as investment, trade in goods and services, and technical cooperation.

Current Multilateral Agreements

In the multilateral sphere, Brazil participates in agreements that promote regional and global economic integration. Highlights include:

Mercosur: Customs union that promotes the free movement of goods, services and productive factors between Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

World Trade Organization (WTO): As a founding member, Brazil actively contributes to negotiations and agreements governing international trade.

Agreements under Negotiation or About to Enter into Force

Brazil is engaged in new negotiations that promise to expand its insertion in global trade:

Mercosur-European Union: Completed in 2019, the agreement awaits ratification and promises to eliminate tariffs on more than 90% of goods traded between the blocs.

Mercosur-Singapore: This agreement, concluded in 2023, seeks to strengthen commercial ties and facilitate strategic investments.

Mercosur-EFTA: Currently under negotiation, this agreement aims to expand trade between Mercosur and the European Free Trade Association.

Impact on the Brazilian Economy

Economic diplomacy is crucial to diversifying markets and attracting investment, especially in a highly competitive global scenario. In addition to reducing tariff barriers, the agreements establish regulatory standards that make Brazilian companies more competitive in the international market.

At Bring Consulting, we are ready to assist companies and governments in identifying opportunities within this complex web of international agreements. Our goal is to promote sustainable growth and global economic integration.
